Job Description

The Area Sales Manager is responsible for prospecting, negotiating and contracting sale clients for On The Border Catering business. Drive new business while retaining current client base. In addition work on leveraging national accounts for their assigned territory and/or set of accounts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Departmental organization:

  • Ensure all marketing tools, including: menus, business cards, signs and banners are installed on all promotional packages on time.
  • Communicate specialty and large events through CM.
  • Work as PR agent on all large events including off-site tradeshows, expos, concession style venues, caterings and taste functions.
  • Maintain contact with all General Managers and Area Directors to ensure strong communication of sales initiatives.
  • Work through national office on all bookings while supporting local event planning.
  • Conduct quarterly guest surveys and communicate feedback to NTLCTMG and CD.
  • Present clients with promotional opportunities and facilitate area sales programs. Sales Objectives
  • Maintain sales business plan: including, but not limited to in-house sales programs promoting outside sales for assigned territory, major client development, implement all internal marketing aids working through GM/UCM and provide print work for ad request approved by Director.
  • Assess Local Store Marketing needs of restaurants in area assigned.
  • Implement local & Regional Store Marketing plans for restaurants.
  • Work with restaurant staff, hourly and management to execute LSM plans, as well as working with the Marketing Department, General Managers and Area Directors to create and support local marketing efforts.
  • Support & coach store Managers in LSM programs and community outreach internally and externally.
  • Produce new business through catering related activities through local business, planning groups and associations while maintaining a professional relationship with existing accounts.
  • Maintain accurate customer records with detailed contacts and account activity throughout the sales order process utilizing the company’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) application
  • Maintain qualified leads and follow up process utilizing the company’s CRM application
  • Meet assigned Revenue Target for your sales area through new business accounts while maintaining current customer sales
  • Maintain detailed client list and submit sales efforts to NTLCTMG weekly
  • Complete and submit monthly expense reports
  • Controls expenses to meet budget guidelines
  • Assist in marketing brand ? Partner with local LSM rep on qualified catering leads
  • Seek potential venues for catering while obtaining solid return
  • Build rapport with clients when gathering information for their events
  • Work through booking office on all contracts and maintain current retail pricing. All contracts written below market retail will need to secure AD and CD approval. Promotional opportunities can be solicited to GM or AD.
  • Pursue partnerships with outside sources- Concession; facilities open to offsite caterers, festivals, special events, and event planners
  • Assist in developing sales force with UCM’s and GM’s
  • Attend events to leverage additional sales in area
  • Complete monthly sales planners and initiate local sales programs that support department focus
  • Participate in monthly conference calls and complete assignments as given by NTLCTMG and CD.
  • Provide quarterly update on sales and initiatives to NCTRMG and CD
  • Complete Trade Area Assessment in assigned area with marketing plan yearly ? Proactively network and sell to prospective clients:
  • Cold/warm calls
  • Send out email blasts/mailers
  • Join and attend networking events
  • Hold showcase events to leverage catering customers to include bridal shows, tradeshow expos and catering open house events
  • Conduct site-tours and samplings
  • Qualify leads thru cold calls and personal visits
  • Present power point decks and other sales collateral to potential clients
  • Locate and maintain event facility lists in area as preferred vendors
  • Understand  all menu tiers and respond knowledgeably to questions - Research target markets and industries - Maintain a thorough knowledge of menu items through frequent samplings - Become a member of MPI, NACE and one other networking organization with a minimum attendance of 3 per month

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Windows 7, Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook and working with databases
  • Great presentation skills
  • Self-managed
  • Home-office isolated from distractions
  • Work a variable and flexible schedule which include Monday thru Friday 8:00AM to 5:00PM and nights, weekends and holidays based on event demands
  • Consistently increase sales and meet targets
  • Must have great phone etiquette
  • Be able to multitask
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of demographics in assigned market • Must have excellent organizational skills
  • Proven sales track record Work Experience:
  • 3 – 5 years Sales experience required
  • Catering, Event planning and/ or Banquet experience preferred OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Communication---excellent verbal communication skills
  • Manage multiple priorities –Must be able to handle multiple events and a fast paced work environment.
  • Adaptability—able to respond when business needs or priorities change
